| Although the risk is small, the most serious current risk to the US food supply is the possibility of consuming E. coli bacteria. Greens, herbs and lettuces have a higher risk of contamination because bacteria from the manure used to fertilize the field can be splashed on the leaves close to the soil. However, growing in greenhouses, using hydroponics systems, E. coli is not a risk factor. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| If a consumer only eats food grown in the US, then there is no significant danger from the over-consumption of residues from the application of pesticides because EPA labeling is very conservative. We are even more conservative. Our goal is to keep all pests out or to minimize their presence using natural predators. When we need to apply pesticides, we only apply products labeled for organic growers. We respect the desires of people who do not want to consume plants grown from genetically modified seed by only buying seed which our suppliers assure us is natural. |
