ARC Greenhouses Used As Example to Explain Hydroponics
Shiloh, NJ -- The National Science Resources Center, Smithsonian Institution has released a new Discovery Deck, Experiments With Plants for use by schools and parents in teaching primary school children about plants and growing plants. One lesson - card 8 - was on growing plants without soil using hydroponics. They picked ARC Greenhouses as the example site.
Bruce Cobb, General Manager of ARC Greenhouses commented, "If the rest of deck is as good at developing an understanding of growing as card 8 is at developing an understanding of hydroponics then the entire deck should be a very beneficial aid for teachers. We hope many schools decide to use this deck."
ARC Greenhouses, grows greens, lettuces and herbs in a controlled greenhouse environment using a recirculating hydroponics system. The produce is picked and shipped fresh six days a week to restaurants, supper markets and distributors from Washington DC to New York City all year long.
